Affinity-purified mouse monoclonal IgG2a reagent from Antibodies.com raised against human ALDH3A2, the microsomal fatty aldehyde dehydrogenase (FALDH) that oxidizes long-chain aliphatic aldehydes to their corresponding fatty acids within the endoplasmic reticulum. Loss-of-function mutations in ALDH3A2 cause Sjogren-Larsson syndrome, an inherited neurocutaneous disorder of lipid metabolism characterized by congenital ichthyosis, intellectual disability, and progressive spasticity, which makes this clone a relevant tool for groups studying fatty aldehyde detoxification, peroxisomal and microsomal lipid processing, and the molecular pathology of Sjogren-Larsson syndrome. The unconjugated antibody is supplied as a 50 uL aliquot of purified protein in 0.1 M Tris-Glycine buffer (pH 7.4) containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.2% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol, intended for storage at -20 degrees C with minimal freeze-thaw cycling to preserve binding activity. Validated for Western blot on human samples, the reagent supports detection of the endogenous ALDH3A2 polypeptide in cell and tissue lysates prepared from cultured lines and biopsy material.
