The polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit against aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2), a mitochondrial matrix enzyme that catalyzes the NAD+-dependent oxidation of acetaldehyde to acetate. ALDH2 is central to hepatic ethanol clearance and to the detoxification of reactive aldehydes produced during lipid peroxidation; published work links its activity to cardioprotection, neuroprotection, and the alcohol flush reaction associated with the ALDH2*2 (Glu504Lys, rs671) variant that is prevalent in East Asian populations.
Provided as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, this unconjugated antibody is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence on human, mouse, and rat samples. Researchers studying hepatic acetaldehyde burden, ischemic preconditioning, or aldehyde-driven oxidative stress in cardiac and neural tissue use this reagent to probe endogenous ALDH2 protein levels and subcellular distribution.
