ALDH1A2, also known as RALDH2, is a retinaldehyde dehydrogenase that catalyzes the synthesis of retinoic acid, a signaling molecule central to embryonic patterning, organogenesis, and adult tissue homeostasis. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised against ALDH1A2 and is validated for Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry on Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.

The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS with 0.1% Sodium Azide and 50% Glycerol. The glycerol-based formulation supports storage at -20°C and resists freeze-thaw damage, while the high starting concentration lets users dilute the reagent to match their preferred immunoblotting or IHC protocol. As a polyclonal, the antibody recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve signal robustness in formalin-fixed tissue sections where antigen accessibility varies between samples.

ALDH1A2 expression is widely studied in developmental biology of the heart, lung, kidney, and reproductive system, in retinoid pathway research, and in cancer biology where altered retinoic acid metabolism has been linked to tumor progression and differentiation state. Investigators working on stem cell differentiation and neural patterning also use RALDH2 detection to track retinoic acid-producing cell populations in vitro and in vivo, making this reagent a flexible tool across basic and translational research programs.
