A rabbit monoclonal IgG reagent (#A11132) from Antibodies.com targeting ALDH1A1, an NAD+-dependent cytosolic retinaldehyde dehydrogenase that drives the terminal step of retinoic acid biosynthesis. The unconjugated antibody is supplied as a 50 µl liquid aliquot for western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples. The reagent recognizes the endogenous ~55 kDa protein, producing a discrete band in western blots and cytoplasmic staining on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections.

ALDH1A1 is widely used as a marker of cancer stem-like populations in breast, lung, ovarian, and colorectal carcinoma models, and as a probe for retinoic acid signaling in embryonic and neural tissue. In immunoprecipitation it pulls down native enzyme from lysates without a pre-conjugated tag, allowing pairing with HRP-, fluorophore-, or biotin-labeled secondary reagents matched to the lab's preferred detection chemistry. Researchers also use it to investigate aldehyde detoxification pathways and chemoresistance phenotypes linked to acetaldehyde and lipid-peroxidation products such as HNE. Short-term storage at 4 °C is fine for active use; for longer-term stability, aliquot and store at -20 °C, minimizing freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity. For research use only.
