Anti-ALCAM Antibody

This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets ALCAM (Activated Leukocyte Cell Adhesion Molecule), a 105 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein also designated CD166. Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, it is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows and recognizes the human, mouse, and rat orthologues. ALCAM mediates both homophilic ALCAM-ALCAM binding and heterophilic adhesion with CD6 on T cells, supporting its study in immunology, stem cell biology, and oncology.

In cancer research, ALCAM/CD166 expression has been characterized in breast, prostate, colorectal, pancreatic, and head-and-neck tumors, where it is associated with epithelial-mesenchymal transition, invasion, and metastatic dissemination. Investigators use this reagent for Western blot detection of full-length ALCAM in cell lysates and for IHC localization in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, supporting studies of tumor prognosis and progression. The antibody is also deployed as a marker of mesenchymal stem cells and of early hematopoietic progenitors, making it useful in regenerative medicine and developmental biology workflows.
