Raised against 5'-aminolevulinate synthase 1 (ALAS1) — the mitochondrial matrix enzyme that catalyzes the rate-limiting condensation of glycine and succinyl-CoA in the heme biosynthesis pathway — this recombinant rabbit monoclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antibody in a glycerol-stabilized buffer (1% BSA, 40% glycerol in TBS pH 7.4 with 0.05% sodium azide preservative).

Validated for Western blot and immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence on human samples, the antibody supports studies of hepatic heme synthesis, porphyria-related dysregulation, and mitochondrial housekeeping gene expression. Because ALAS1 is the ubiquitously expressed housekeeping isoform that contrasts with the erythroid-restricted ALAS2 paralog, the reagent is commonly deployed in research on hepatic heme feedback control, drug-induced porphyrias, and metabolic regulation of mitochondrial matrix proteins.

The recombinant monoclonal format delivers lot-to-lot consistency, and the BSA and glycerol buffer helps preserve activity during freezer storage. Aliquoting on first use is recommended to minimize repeated freeze-thaw cycles and protect antibody integrity for downstream WB and ICC/IF workflows.
