This rabbit polyclonal reagent targets AKT1, a serine/threonine kinase central to the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling cascade that governs cell survival, proliferation, glucose metabolism, and protein synthesis. Supplied by Antibodies.com as a 50 µl aliquot at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, the unconjugated antibody is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows.

The reagent was raised in rabbit and is polyclonal in nature, recognizing an epitope within the E40 region of AKT1. It cross-reacts with samples from human, mouse, and rat origin, making it suitable for translational research across standard model systems and primary tissue studies. The unconjugated format allows investigators to pair it with their preferred secondary detection reagents, HRP conjugates, or fluorescent labels depending on assay design.

AKT1, also known as PKBα or protein kinase B alpha, is phosphorylated at Thr308 and Ser473 during pathway activation. Researchers commonly use this reagent to probe total AKT1 expression in lysates prepared from cultured cell lines, tumor specimens, and treated animal tissues. Working concentrations for western blot and immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections should be titrated empirically against the chosen detection system. Short-term storage at 4°C is acceptable; for longer term, aliquot and freeze at -20°C to preserve activity across freeze-thaw cycles. Protect from light to safeguard reagent integrity.
