Anti-Akt Antibody

A rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com, the Anti-Akt Antibody targets the Akt serine/threonine kinase (also called Protein Kinase B, PKB), a central mediator of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway that controls cell survival, proliferation, glucose metabolism, and apoptosis. Supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated antiserum, this primary antibody is validated for Western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and ELISA workflows and shows reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples.

In Western blot, the antibody recognizes the endogenous Akt band at approximately 56-60 kDa in whole-cell lysates from many cell lines and primary tissues. For immunohistochemistry, it produces cytoplasmic staining on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections, supporting studies of pathway activation in tumor and normal specimens. The polyclonal nature of the reagent allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the Akt protein, which can improve signal strength in applications where individual monoclonal clones give weak results.

For best results, store the antibody frozen in single-use aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light. Thawed aliquots can be kept refrigerated for several weeks. This reagent is intended for research use only.
