Akt (also known as Protein Kinase B or PKB) is a serine/threonine kinase that sits at the heart of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling axis, where it regulates glucose metabolism, cell survival, proliferation, and migration. This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised against a peptide epitope corresponding to a region around residue 326 of Akt, allowing detection of the kinase independent of its activation-loop phosphorylation status.
The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum in a vial and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human and mouse samples, where it recognizes all three Akt isoforms (Akt1, Akt2, and Akt3). Researchers commonly apply it to investigate downstream signaling in cancer cell lines, insulin-response models, and neuronal tissue, and it can be paired with phospho-specific Akt antibodies to compare total versus activated kinase levels in lysates or fixed sections. Store refrigerated and protect from light to preserve reactivity through multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
