Aldo-keto reductase family 1 member C4 (AKR1C4), also known as 3α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 and chlordecone reductase, is a cytosolic NADPH-dependent oxidoreductase expressed at high levels in human liver. It catalyses 3-ketosteroid reduction steps in the C21 and C19 steroid pathways and contributes to bile acid formation from 5β-reduced cholesterol metabolites, linking it to hepatic steroid clearance and bile acid synthesis.

This Antibodies.com reagent is a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against AKR1C4 and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum in a single vial. It was developed for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows and has been validated on the human and mouse orthologues, supporting studies of liver zonation, steroidogenic tissue biology, and hepatic xenobiotic detoxification pathways where AKR1C4 catalytic activity serves as a measurable endpoint.

For handling, store the vial frozen at -20 °C in small working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw loss of titre and thaw on ice before each use. The product is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic applications.
