Antibodies.com provides this rabbit polyclonal antibody targeting AKR1C4 (Aldo-Keto Reductase Family 1 Member C4), a liver-enriched cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes NAD(P)H-dependent reduction of 3-, 17-, and 20-ketosteroids and serves a central role in bile acid biosynthesis and steroid hormone metabolism.

Validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human, mouse, and rat samples, the unconjugated reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide as preservative and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant. Each vial contains 100 µl of antibody, sufficient for multiple staining or blotting experiments.

Common research applications include profiling hepatic enzyme expression across model organisms, mapping steroid clearance pathways in liver tissue, investigating chemoresistance mechanisms in hormone-responsive cancers, and characterizing the metabolic fate of 5α-reduced steroids and bile acid precursors processed by the aldo-keto reductase family. The polyclonal format recognizes multiple epitopes, which supports detection of denatured target on western blot membranes and of fixed antigen in tissue sections.

Store refrigerated; the glycerol-supplemented buffer limits freeze-thaw damage during routine use. For recommended starting dilutions and protocol notes for this AKR1C4 reagent, consult the Antibodies.com product datasheet.
