Raised in rabbit against human AKR1C1, a cytosolic aldo-keto reductase of roughly 37 kDa that NADPH-dependently converts progesterone to 20-alpha-hydroxyprogesterone, this unconjugated polyclonal antibody is supplied by Antibodies.com as 100 µl of antiserum for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows. AKR1C1 (also called DDH1 or 20-alpha-HSD) participates in steroid hormone, prostaglandin, and xenobiotic carbonyl metabolism, with altered expression documented in hormone-responsive tissues and in breast, prostate, and endometrial tumor contexts; the polyclonal format recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, supporting detection of endogenous protein across human cell and tissue samples.

For IHC, the reagent performs on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections and produces cytoplasmic and nuclear staining consistent with the enzyme's reported subcellular distribution. For immunoblotting, expect a band near the 37 kDa marker in whole-cell or tissue lysates prepared from human sources. For immunofluorescence, it pairs with standard anti-rabbit secondary reagents on fixed cells. Store refrigerated in the supplied vial, protect from light, and aliquot on first use to limit freeze-thaw damage to the polyclonal preparation.
