Target aldose reductase with a mouse monoclonal raised against human AKR1B1 from Antibodies.com, supplied as 100 µl of purified IgG in 0.1M Tris-Glycine buffer (pH 7.4) with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol. The unconjugated antibody is validated for western blot and immunocytochemistry workflows, supporting detection of the approximately 36 kDa aldose reductase monomer in human cell and tissue samples.

AKR1B1 catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of glucose to sorbitol in the polyol pathway, and elevated activity has been linked in the literature to diabetic complications, oxidative stress, and inflammatory signaling in research models. The reagent is generated in mouse hosts and is reactive with human AKR1B1; reactivity beyond the listed species has not been established by the manufacturer, so related species should be tested empirically. The monoclonal format reduces lot-to-lot variability relative to polyclonal preparations, which is useful for reproducible band patterns in western blot and clean cytoplasmic staining in ICC.

For handling, the antibody ships in a glycerol-containing buffer that tolerates occasional freeze-thaw cycles, so aliquot on arrival and store refrigerated; protect from light to preserve activity over the working shelf life of the preparation.
