Raised in rabbits, this unconjugated polyclonal antibody targets AKR1B1, the aldose reductase enzyme that catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of glucose-derived aldehydes within the polyol pathway. It is widely used to study diabetic complications, oxidative stress responses, and metabolic disorders in human, mouse, and rat model systems.
The reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. Researchers apply it for western blot analysis of protein lysates and for immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue sections, where it supports investigations of aldose reductase expression in tissues such as the retina, kidney, and peripheral nerves.
Validated reactivity across three species makes this reagent useful for translational projects that compare human pathology with rodent disease models.
