Anti-AKAP5 Antibody

Raised in rabbit as a polyclonal IgG reagent, this unconjugated Primary Antibody from Antibodies.com targets endogenous AKAP5 (A-kinase anchoring protein 5), a neuronal scaffolding protein encoded at chromosomal locus 14q23.3 (Uniprot P24588). The immunogen is a synthetic peptide spanning amino acids 1–50 of human AKAP5, so the reagent recognizes epitopes shared with the orthologous rodent isoform AKAP150 and the human synonym AKAP79. Validated detection of total AKAP5 is supported in Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.

AKAP5 organizes second-messenger signaling complexes containing PKA, PKC, and calcineurin at postsynaptic densities, anchoring these enzymes adjacent to AMPA receptors, NMDA receptors, L-type calcium channels, and KCNQ potassium channels. This compartmentalization coordinates cAMP and calcium pathways that underlie synaptic plasticity, learning, memory, and ion channel regulation studies.
