This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes AFG3L2 (ATPase Family Gene 3-Like 2), a mitochondrial inner membrane AAA+ metalloprotease that assembles into the hetero-oligomeric m-AAA protease complex with SPG7/paraplegin. AFG3L2 drives mitochondrial protein quality control and processes nuclear-encoded mitochondrial precursors, and heterozygous loss-of-function mutations in the gene cause spinocerebellar ataxia type 28 (SCA28) as well as dominantly inherited optic atrophy.
