Raised in rabbit as a polyclonal reagent, this unconjugated primary antibody targets adenylosuccinate lyase (ADSL), a bifunctional enzyme essential to de novo purine biosynthesis. ADSL catalyzes two steps of the pathway: the conversion of succinylaminoimidazole carboxamide ribotide (SAICAR) to aminoimidazole carboxamide ribotide (AICAR), and the conversion of adenylosuccinate (S-AMP) to AMP. Mutations in the ADSL gene cause adenylosuccinate lyase deficiency, a rare autosomal recessive disorder of nucleotide metabolism characterized by the accumulation of succinylpurines in cerebrospinal fluid and urine.
Supplied by Antibodies.com as 100 µl of antiserum in a single vial, the reagent has been validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence work on human, mouse, and rat samples. The unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with secondary antibodies or detection chemistries chosen by the end user, supporting investigations of purine pathway enzymology, metabolic disease models, and broader cell biology research.
