Anti-ADO Antibody

Raised in rabbit against human 2-aminoethanethiol dioxygenase (ADO), this polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com targets the non-heme iron-dependent thiol dioxygenase (EC 1.13.11.19) that catalyzes the oxygen-dependent oxidation of cysteamine to hypotaurine, the rate-limiting step in taurine biosynthesis. The unconjugated antibody is supplied as 100 µl of liquid and is validated for Western blot detection of endogenous ADO in human, mouse, and rat samples. Published reports describe a characteristic double band at 28-30 kDa on immunoblots, consistent with the calculated 30 kDa size of the 270-amino-acid enzyme (PMID: 17581819). The reagent integrates into immunoblotting workflows on cell lysates and tissue homogenates from brain, heart, and skeletal muscle, where ADO transcripts are most abundant. Beyond taurine biosynthesis, ADO also modifies N-terminal cysteine residues of regulatory proteins such as RGS5, extending the antibody's use to studies of thiol redox signaling and sulfur metabolism.
