This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets ADH5 (Alcohol Dehydrogenase 5), also called formaldehyde dehydrogenase or FDH, an NAD(P)+-dependent enzyme central to intracellular formaldehyde detoxification. Raised in rabbit, the reagent is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as stabiliser, packaged as a 100 µl vial suitable for multiple experimental runs.

Validated for Western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF), the antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, giving cross-species utility for cell biology, toxicology, and cancer research workflows in which formaldehyde metabolism is interrogated. Studies of DNA repair and one-carbon metabolism, where ADH5 contributes to the clearance of aldehyde-derived adducts, can incorporate this reagent directly into established protocols.

Storage follows standard immunoglobulin practice: aliquot on arrival to limit freeze-thaw cycles and keep refrigerated. The polyclonal format increases the chance of recognising multiple ADH5 epitopes on the native protein, an advantage when probing tissue sections or running IF imaging. Sodium azide in the buffer is incompatible with certain live-cell assays, so it should be removed by dialysis or buffer exchange if a reporter-tagged derivative is needed downstream.
