Produced in rabbit hosts, this unconjugated polyclonal antiserum from Antibodies.com binds Adenosine Deaminase (ADA), the purine-metabolizing enzyme that hydrolytically deaminates adenosine and 2'-deoxyadenosine to inosine and deoxyinosine. The 100 µl liquid vial is intended for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence detection on human samples, and is supplied without a covalently attached reporter so it can be paired with a user-chosen HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-labeled secondary reagent.

ADA sits at a critical branch point in purine salvage, and altered expression is reported in lymphoid lineage cells as well as in some epithelial tumors. Because the antigen is well conserved across tissues, the antibody is useful for confirming ADA expression patterns in fixed sections and whole-cell lysates, and for characterizing the cellular distribution of the enzyme. The polyclonal format means multiple epitopes are recognized, which can be an advantage when probing denatured samples for western blot or partially masked epitopes in formalin-fixed tissue.

Store refrigerated in single-use aliquots to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light if the chosen secondary is fluorophore-conjugated. A brief centrifugation step before use collects any aggregated material at the bottom of the tube.
