From the Antibodies.com catalogue, this recombinant reagent targets the cleaved p17 fragment of Active Caspase-3, allowing researchers to monitor executioner caspase activity in apoptotic cells. Supplied as a 50 µL aliquot of an unconjugated recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody, it is validated for Western Blot (1:1000–1:2000), Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence (1:50–1:200) and Immunohistochemistry (1:50–1:200) on human samples, where it specifically recognizes the endogenous ~17 kDa cleaved subunit rather than the inactive zymogen. The host species is rabbit (IgG isotype), and the antibody is Protein A affinity-purified and conjugated to no fluorophore or enzyme, leaving it suitable for downstream labelling with the user's preferred detection chemistry. The product is formulated in 1× TBS at pH 7.4 with 40% glycerol as cryoprotectant, 1% BSA as a stabilizer, and 0.05% sodium azide as preservative. For routine handling, Antibodies.com recommends short-term storage at 4 °C with aliquoting and long-term storage at –20 °C, taking care to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The underlying clone is the well-documented SR01-02 reagent originally raised against a synthetic peptide within human Caspase-3 (amino acids 28–67), which spans the Asp28 cleavage site and explains its selectivity for the activated form of the protease. Common alternative names detected by the antibody include CPP32, YAMA, Apopain, SCA-1 and CASP3. As supplied by Antibodies.com through AFMS, the reagent is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
