Raised in rabbit against human acyl-CoA oxidase 2 (ACOX2), this polyclonal unconjugated primary antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of antiserum for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows. The antibody detects endogenous ACOX2 in both human and mouse samples, supporting studies of peroxisomal fatty acid beta-oxidation, bile acid biosynthesis, and hepatic metabolism.

ACOX2 localizes predominantly to peroxisomes in liver and kidney, where it catalyzes the initial oxidation step of very-long-chain and branched-chain fatty acids and contributes to the side-chain modification of bile acid intermediates such as trihydroxycholestanoic acid. Loss-of-function variants in ACOX2 have been linked to peroxisomal biogenesis disorders, and the antibody is therefore useful for confirming peroxisomal enzyme abundance in patient-derived fibroblasts, mouse models of fatty liver disease, and tissue sections from hepatic studies. Because the reagent is unconjugated, researchers can pair it with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-labeled secondary antibodies for chemiluminescent western blot detection, chromogenic IHC, or immunofluorescence imaging. For long-term storage, aliquot the antiserum to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity across multiple experiments.
