Anti-ACOT8 Antibody

Sourced from the Antibodies.com catalog, this rabbit polyclonal reagent targets ACOT8 (Acyl-coenzyme A thioesterase 8), a peroxisomal thioesterase also known as ACTEIII, PTE-2, hTE, and HIV-Nef-associated acyl-CoA thioesterase. The antibody was generated against a synthetic peptide derived from the internal region of human ACOT8 and affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by epitope-specific affinity chromatography, ensuring selective recognition of endogenous levels of the total ACOT8 protein. It is supplied at a concentration of 1.0 mg/mL as an unconjugated Rabbit IgG preparation in phosphate buffered saline (without Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺) at pH 7.4, supplemented with 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. The 50 µl size is shipped on cold packs at 4 °C, and upon arrival should be aliquoted and stored at −20 °C, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve activity. Validated applications include Western blotting (WB) and immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence (ICC/IF), and the reagent has been confirmed to react with human, mouse, and rat samples, making it suitable for cross-species studies of peroxisomal lipid metabolism. As a polyclonal, host-derived reagent, it offers broader epitope coverage than a monoclonal clone, which is particularly useful when probing conserved regions of the ACOT8 enzyme across different tissues and model systems.
