The Acyl-CoA Thioesterase 4 (ACOT4) enzyme belongs to the acyl-CoA thioesterase superfamily and is anchored in peroxisomes, where it catalyzes the hydrolysis of acyl-CoA thioesters into free fatty acids and coenzyme A. By cleaving succinyl-CoA, glutaryl-CoA, and other short-chain acyl-CoA substrates, the protein supports peroxisomal lipid turnover, branched-chain fatty acid catabolism, and the detoxification of dicarboxylic acid intermediates. The human ACOT4 gene maps to chromosome 14 and the protein is also known in the literature as peroxisomal acyl-CoA thioesterase 2 (PTE-2).

Manufactured and quality-controlled by Antibodies.com, this polyclonal reagent was raised in rabbit and is supplied as an unconjugated, carrier-free preparation in a 100 µL liquid format, ready for direct use in immunolabeling workflows. It detects endogenous human ACOT4 and is validated for Western blot analysis of cell and tissue lysates, where it yields a discrete band consistent with the expected molecular weight of the mature peroxisomal protein, and for immunofluorescence microscopy, where it produces a punctate cytoplasmic pattern reflecting peroxisomal localization.

Because the immunogen is derived from the human ACOT4 sequence, the antibody from Antibodies.com is recommended for studies exploring peroxisomal fatty acid oxidation, mitochondrial-peroxisomal crosstalk, and metabolic disorders linked to impaired acyl-CoA processing. Researchers investigating adipocyte lipid handling, hepatic beta-oxidation, or the cellular response to peroxisomal stress can pair this reagent with organelle markers such as PEX14 or catalase to confirm compartment-specific localization on fixed-cell or cryosectioned tissue samples prepared with standard fixation methods.
