This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets acetylcholinesterase (AChE), the cholinergic synapse enzyme that hydrolyzes acetylcholine into choline and acetate, terminating cholinergic neurotransmission at neuromuscular junctions and across the central nervous system. Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated reagent in a 100 µl vial, the antibody is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA workflows and detects the target in human, mouse, and rat samples.

AChE is a peripheral membrane glycoprotein encoded by the ACHE gene, and altered expression or activity is studied in contexts ranging from organophosphate toxicology and nerve-agent pharmacology to Alzheimer's disease neuropathology, myasthenia gravis, and agricultural exposure to carbamate pesticides. Researchers working on cholinergic signaling, neuromuscular junction organization, or the catalytic subunits of the synaptic tetrameric form (G4) use this reagent to map protein distribution across tissue sections and to confirm expression changes in cell or animal models.

The antibody is delivered as a liquid polyclonal preparation suitable for standard immunodetection buffers and conventional secondary antibody systems, including HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondaries depending on the chosen assay. For best stability the reagent should be aliquoted to limit freeze-thaw cycles and stored refrigerated between uses, protected from light when paired with fluorescent detection. As a primary antibody it is intended for research use only and pairs naturally with cholinergic pathway markers in multiplex panels.
