This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets ACCα (Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase alpha, also called ACACA), the cytosolic 265 kDa enzyme that catalyzes the ATP-dependent carboxylation of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA, the rate-limiting step in de novo fatty acid biosynthesis. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antiserum and is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA on human, mouse, and rat samples.

ACCα sits at the crossroads of lipogenesis and energy-sensing signaling: AMPK phosphorylates it on Ser79 to suppress activity under energy stress, while SREBP-1c and ChREBP drive its transcription in the fed state. Researchers studying hepatic lipid accumulation, adipocyte differentiation, cancer cell metabolism, and metabolic disorders including obesity and type 2 diabetes rely on robust ACCα detection across tissues such as liver, white and brown adipose, and skeletal muscle.

For Western blot, ACCα migrates as a high-molecular-weight band near 265 kDa. For IHC, individual titering and antigen retrieval conditions should be optimized for each tissue. Aliquot the reagent upon first thaw to limit freeze-thaw cycles and store the vial at -20°C in working volumes, with brief 4°C storage acceptable for active use. Supplied as a research-use-only primary antibody in unconjugated format suitable for HRP-, fluorophore-, or biotin-based secondary detection systems.
