The polyclonal antibody targets ABHD5, a lipid droplet-associated protein better known as CGI-58. ABHD5 serves as the essential co-activator of ATGL (adipose triglyceride lipase, PNPLA2) and drives the first step of triglyceride mobilization in many tissues. Loss-of-function mutations in the ABHD5 gene cause Chanarin-Dorfman syndrome, a neutral lipid storage disorder characterized by ichthyosis, hepatosteatosis, and ataxia, making this protein a focus of dermatology, hepatology, and metabolic disease research. This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of IgG, unconjugated, and validated for Western blot detection of endogenous ABHD5 in mouse and rat samples. The antibody is intended for studies of lipid droplet biology, neutral lipid metabolism, and the ATGL activation complex in adipose and hepatic tissue. For research use only.
