This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets ABCD1 (ATP-binding cassette subfamily D member 1), the peroxisomal membrane transporter encoded by the ABCD1 gene on chromosome Xq28. Loss-of-function mutations in ABCD1 cause X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD), a peroxisomal disorder characterized by accumulation of very long chain fatty acids (VLCFAs), central nervous system demyelination, and adrenal cortex insufficiency. ALDP, the protein recognized by this reagent, normally imports VLCFA-CoA esters into peroxisomes for β-oxidation, and it is widely used as a marker of peroxisome biogenesis and as a diagnostic probe in X-ALD patient fibroblasts and lymphoblast lines.

From Antibodies.com, the reagent is supplied as 200 µL of unconjugated IgG raised in rabbit, validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry on human and mouse samples. Polyclonal reactivity across multiple epitopes of ALDP is useful when probing truncated or patient-mutated variants, because single amino-acid substitutions can abolish binding of an epitope-specific monoclonal antibody, and the unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with HRP, fluorophore, or biotin-labeled secondary reagents depending on assay design.

For research use only, the vial should be stored refrigerated after arrival; aliquot to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect the IgG from degradation. Brief centrifugation before opening collects any antibody that may have collected at the cap or tube walls, and primary antibody dilution should be titrated against the antigen abundance of the sample being analyzed.
