This Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal antibody specifically recognizes human AAAS (Aladin), the nuclear pore complex protein encoded by the AAAS gene on chromosome 12q13. Mutations in this gene cause triple A syndrome (Allgrove syndrome), a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by achalasia, adrenal insufficiency, and alacrima. Researchers studying nucleocytoplasmic trafficking, nuclear pore assembly, and the molecular pathology of triple A syndrome use this reagent to detect ALADIN in cell lysates by Western blot and in fixed tissue sections by immunohistochemistry.

Supplied as 100 µl of affinity-purified antibody at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent is validated for human samples and buffered in a stable glycerol solution that resists freeze-thaw damage. The polyclonal format provides multiple epitope coverage, which is particularly valuable when probing for ALADIN truncations or missense variants that disrupt binding in monoclonal preparations.

Suggested applications include Western blot analysis of whole-cell lysates from patient fibroblasts and gene-edited cell models, alongside immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded sections of adrenal cortex and esophageal smooth muscle to investigate protein mislocalization. The unconjugated format lets researchers pair the antibody with their preferred HRP, biotin, or fluorophore conjugates, supporting both chromogenic and fluorescence-based detection workflows.
