The 4B11 monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is a mouse-derived primary reagent raised against alpha skeletal muscle actin, the actin isoform that dominates in mature skeletal myofibers and is widely used as a marker of striated muscle differentiation. Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated product, the antibody is validated for western blot and immunoprecipitation workflows and reacts with human, rat, and mouse samples, supporting cross-species studies in myogenesis, muscle regeneration, and neuromuscular disease models.

Because the target is restricted to the alpha skeletal isoform, the reagent is commonly applied to distinguish skeletal muscle from smooth muscle and cardiac tissue in lysate-based assays, to follow differentiation of C2C12 and other myogenic cell lines, and to immunoprecipitate actin-containing complexes from tissue homogenates. Researchers working on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, sarcopenia, exercise-induced muscle remodeling, and rhabdomyosarcoma biology rely on this isoform specificity to confirm sarcomeric actin expression by immunoblotting.

As an unconjugated format, the antibody accepts a broad choice of user-supplied secondary reagents — HRP, fluorophore, or biotin conjugates — making it flexible for chemiluminescent western blot and pull-down assays from a single stock. Store refrigerated and protect from light to preserve activity; aliquoting on arrival is recommended to minimize repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the 100 µl vial.
