Anti-5-Methylcytosine Antibody [5MC-CD]

Supplied by Antibodies.com as a 100 µg liquid formulation, the 5MC-CD mouse monoclonal IgM antibody specifically recognizes 5-methylcytosine residues in denatured, single-stranded DNA. This epitope specificity makes it a useful tool for visualizing global DNA methylation in situ, including ICC/IF imaging of fixed cells, Southern blot analysis of methylation patterns, and flow cytometry-based quantification of methylated DNA content. Because reactivity is not species-restricted, the reagent has been validated in human, mouse, and plant genome studies. The unconjugated format allows pairing with secondary anti-mouse IgM reporters chosen by the researcher. For best stability, aliquot upon arrival and store at -20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles; short-term storage at 4 °C is acceptable for working solutions.
