AllPrep PowerFecal Pro DNA/RNA Kit (50)

From QIAGEN, the AllPrep PowerFecal Pro DNA/RNA Kit is designed for the simultaneous purification of microbial DNA and total RNA from the same stool or gut sample. The kit integrates second-generation Inhibitor Removal Technology (IRT) with optimized lysis chemistry and bead beating to address common inhibitory substances found in stool, including polysaccharides, heme compounds, and bile salts.

The recommended starting material is 50–200 mg of stool, homogenized in a 2 ml PowerBead Pro Tube containing a mix of zirconia beads. The workflow delivers DNA and RNA in two separate eluate fractions: genomic DNA is selectively bound to an MB Spin Column in a high-salt buffer, washed, and eluted, while total RNA is captured from the flow-through on an MB RNA Spin Column and eluted in RNase-free water. The purified nucleic acids are suitable for immediate use in downstream applications including PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows such as 16S, metagenome, and metatranscriptome analysis.

For shipping and storage, Solution CD2 should be stored at 2–8°C, while all other kit reagents and components should be stored at room temperature (15–25°C). The kit is intended for research use only and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.
