AdnaTest ProstateCancerSelect

Designed by QIAGEN for prostate cancer research, the AdnaTest ProstateCancerSelect is the immunomagnetic enrichment component of the AdnaTest ProstateCancer system, used to isolate and characterize circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from whole blood. Antibodies against epithelial and tumor-associated antigens are conjugated to magnetic beads that label tumor cells; the labeled cells are then captured with a magnetic particle concentrator and lysed to enable downstream mRNA isolation.

Paired with the companion AdnaTest ProstateCancerDetect kit, which uses Oligo(dT)25 beads to purify mRNA from the cell lysate, reverse-transcribe it into cDNA, and amplify cancer-associated transcripts by multiplex PCR, the two-step workflow can generate results within 5 hours. The manufacturer reports a detection specificity of at least 90%, and in spiking experiments 5 tumor cells in 5 ml of whole blood are detected at a recovery rate of at least 90%. PrimerMix ProstateDetect amplifies three tumor-associated antigens and one control gene (PSMA: 449 bp, PSA: 357 bp, EGFR: 163 bp, Actin: 120 bp internal PCR control), while PrimerMix AR-Detect amplifies the androgen receptor (AR: 440 bp). The kits are intended for molecular biology applications and are not for diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease.
