6x DNA Loading Dye Buffer Orange and Blue

A 6x loading dye buffer from Solis BioDyne designed for preparing DNA samples, including PCR products and restriction fragments, prior to loading onto agarose or polyacrylamide gels. The reagent combines Orange G, Xylene Cyanole FF, Tris-HCl, EDTA and Ficoll. In 1% agarose gels, Orange G comigrates with ~40 bp fragments in 1× TBE or ~60 bp fragments in 1× TAE, while Xylene Cyanole FF comigrates with ~3500 bp fragments in 1× TBE or ~5000 bp fragments in 1× TAE. The Ficoll component alters local pH, and no interaction with borate is observed on TBE gels.

The buffer is supplied as a slightly viscous, dark blue liquid with a pH between 7.0 and 9.0, and is not classified as hazardous. The recommended use is to mix 1 volume of dye with 5 volumes of DNA sample before loading. The reagent can be shipped at room temperature without detrimental effect on quality, and is stable at room temperature or 4 °C; for longer storage, -18 °C to -28 °C is recommended.
