The QIAGEN benchtop tip waste station provides a contained, disinfected holding area for used pipette tips generated during nucleic acid extraction, PCR plate setup, and other primary sample workflows. Constructed from chemical-resistant polypropylene, each unit tolerates routine exposure to sodium hypochlorite, virucidal sprays, and quaternary ammonium disinfectants, and the empty container can be autoclaved at 121 °C for full decontamination between uses. The rectangular basin holds up to 5 L of liquid disinfectant, submerging contaminated filter tips, gel-loading tips, and positive-displacement tips so aerosols and splashes are suppressed during pipetting. A hinged lid closes between transfers to limit evaporation and odor, while the wide aperture accepts multichannel pipettes and bulk tip racks without manual alignment. A molded retaining grid at the base keeps discarded tips submerged and prevents clogging as waste accumulates, simplifying end-of-run disposal. Supplied as a pack of 10 refillable boxes, the system supports high-throughput pre-analytical rooms running hundreds of spin-column or bead-based preparations per shift and integrates cleanly into QIAGEN sample preparation protocols.
