PowerProtect DNA/RNA (1000 ml)

A trusted preservation solution from QIAGEN designed to stabilize both DNA and RNA in stool samples for downstream molecular analysis. The reagent penetrates cells and halts biological activity, keeping the microbial information content intact so the microbial community and functional profile are maintained during transport and storage until the nucleic acids can be extracted and analyzed.

When stool samples are kept at temperatures between 4°C and 25°C, the solution preserves bacterial DNA indefinitely and RNA for at least two months. At an elevated temperature of 35°C, DNA remains stable for 14 days and RNA for three days. For long-term storage over years, stabilized samples should be kept at 2–8°C, or frozen at –30 to –15°C or –90 to –65°C. The product is shipped and stored at room temperature (15–25°C) and is manufactured under an ISO-certified Quality Management System.

For stabilization, at least 4 volumes of reagent should be used per sample (approximately 2 ml reagent per 500 mg stool), with up to 9 volumes recommended for dry stool samples. After stabilization, nucleic acids can be purified using QIAGEN kits and applied in PCR, qPCR, NGS, RT-PCR, digital PCR, and RNA-seq workflows. The product is intended for molecular biology applications and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease.
