EZ1 Advanced DNA Dried Blood Card

From QIAGEN, this protocol card is designed for use with the EZ1 Advanced instrument to enable automated DNA purification from dried blood spots. It pairs with the EZ1 DNA Blood 350 µl Kit and supports processing of archived or field-collected samples, delivering reproducible DNA yields suitable for downstream genotyping and molecular assays.

The card slots into the EZ1 Advanced workstation, removing the need for manual data entry to select the purification protocol. The EZ1 Advanced can process 1–6 samples per run in less than 20 minutes, and up to 4 EZ1 Advanced instruments can be connected to a single computer to expand throughput. Workflow features on the instrument include a keypad and VFD (vacuum fluorescent display), bar code reading for complete tracking of samples and reagents, logging of reagent identification and lot numbers together with expiration dates, and automatic generation of pdf and csv run reports that can be transferred to a printer, a computer on the network, or a LIMS.

Safety and contamination-control features of the EZ1 Advanced platform include a door sensor that keeps the workstation closed during sample preparation and an integrated UV lamp used to decontaminate the inner surface between runs.
