Description
A dithiothreitol (DTT) aqueous solution supplied by QIAGEN for reducing disulfide bonds in proteins and protecting free thiols during sample preparation and enzyme storage.
It is commonly used in protein denaturation, SDS‑PAGE sample buffers, and other molecular biology workflows where reducing conditions are required. In DNA extraction protocols, the reagent is added during the lysis step for challenging specimen types such as nails and hair, supporting digestion alongside Proteinase K and lysis buffers.
Working solutions should be prepared fresh as needed, and single‑use aliquots are recommended. Aliquots are stored at low temperature, for example at −20 °C, to preserve activity, and are thawed immediately before use.
