QIAGEN Solution CD1 is a buffered reagent supplied as part of the manufacturer's Primary Sample Technologies consumables range. It is intended for use in sample conditioning and preparatory steps within QIAGEN nucleic acid extraction workflows, where it complements both automated and manual purification protocols to support lysis and clarification performance and downstream nucleic acid quality.

The reagent features as a component of the DNeasy PowerSoil Pro Kit, which employs a novel bead tube design and an improved Inhibitor Removal Technology (IRT). It is formulated to lyse bacteria and fungi from challenging soil types — including compost, clay, and topsoil — while removing common inhibitors found in soil and environmental samples. Sequencing work using DNA prepared with the kit has shown higher alpha diversity, measured as observed operational taxonomic units (OTUs), compared with alternative methods, and the workflow can be automated on QIAcube Connect instruments.
