It replaces animal-serum-based blockers such as BSA solutions and non-fat milk, reducing non-specific antibody binding on nitrocellulose, PVDF, and polystyrene surfaces without introducing endogenous immunoglobulins or phosphoproteins that can interfere with downstream detection.

Tris buffer formulation makes the reagent compatible with alkaline phosphatase conjugates and a broad range of membrane and plate-based protocols.
