RNAprotect Animal Blood Tubes 500µl (50)

QIAGEN tubes designed for the collection and RNA stabilization of animal blood accommodate samples of approximately 500 µl. Each tube is pre-filled with RNA stabilizer to ensure rapid stabilization of blood RNA, helping to maintain accurate expression profiles during transport and processing. They are intended for molecular biology applications and are not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.

Before use, tubes must be at room temperature (15–25°C). Blood should be drawn by an appropriate method (e.g., tail, ear, or saphenous vein puncture) and immediately added to the tube at the indicated fill level. The tube is then closed and gently inverted 8–10 times. To ensure efficient cell lysis, the tube must be kept at 15–25°C for at least 2 h; this can be done before placing it in cold storage or after removing it from cold storage. The tubes themselves are stable for at least 9 months when stored at 15–25°C and must not be reused.

Stabilized blood can be stored upright at 15–25°C for up to 48 h, at 2–8°C for up to 14 days, or at –15 to –30°C or below for several months. After stabilization, RNA must be purified using the RNeasy Protect Animal Blood Kit, as the tubes are part of the RNeasy Protect Animal Blood System.
