Antibodies.com supplies a Grade 2 antigen preparation of Parainfluenza Virus type 3 (PIV-3), partially purified and concentrated by centrifugation from in vitro culture. PIV-3 is a leading cause of viral bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants and a frequent agent of croup and other lower respiratory tract illnesses in young children, which makes well-characterised viral antigens valuable for respiratory pathogen panels, seroepidemiology studies, and vaccine-related research.
The preparation is supplied as a 1 ml liquid and is processed through partial purification of in vitro propagated virus followed by concentration via centrifugation. This workflow reduces background matrix while preserving the viral surface and internal proteins that researchers target when developing or validating immunoassays. Grade 2 reagents of this type are commonly applied as coating antigens on microplate well plates, as positive controls in EIA workflows, and as immunogens for raising or characterising reference antisera.
Standard biosafety practices appropriate for a Risk Group 2 pathogen should be observed during handling, and the product is intended for research use only in laboratory settings.
