Methadone-BSA Antigen

Distributed by AFMS and originally developed by Antibodies.com, this hapten–carrier conjugate is engineered as a capture antigen for the qualitative detection of methadone in immunoassay workflows. Each vial provides 1 mg of a liquid BSA-conjugated antigen formulated in 10 mM Phosphate Buffered Saline at pH 7.2, in which the small methadone hapten is covalently linked to bovine serum albumin for optimal presentation on solid phases. The reagent is validated for use in Lateral Flow immunochromatographic assays and ELISA platforms, where it is intended to be paired with an anti-methadone detection antibody (such as a mouse monoclonal of the IgG1 isotype) to build a complete matched antibody–antigen pair for drugs-of-abuse testing. Because it is an unconjugated small-molecule derivative coupled to BSA rather than an intact immunoglobulin, no host, clonality, isotype or reactivity statement applies to the antigen itself; downstream reactivity is directed against the methadone hapten. For handling, the conjugate is shipped at 2–8 °C, may be kept short term at 4 °C, and for longer storage should be aliquoted and held at –20 °C, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve activity.
