Recombinant Human Retinol-Binding Protein 4 (RBP-4) supplied by Antibodies.com as a 1 mg liquid preparation. RBP-4 is a ~21 kDa secreted carrier protein that binds one molecule of all-trans retinol and transports it from hepatic stores to peripheral tissues through interaction with the STRA6 receptor. The protein is widely investigated in studies of vitamin A homeostasis, adipokine signaling, and metabolic disorders including insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. This unconjugated preparation is used as a calibration standard in immunoassays, as a reference antigen for antibody characterization by western blot, and as a functional reagent in retinol uptake experiments with cultured hepatocytes or adipocytes. Store frozen at -20 °C or below; aliquot upon first use and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to maintain retinol-binding activity. Provided in a single vial for research use only.
