The recombinant Thermus aquaticus SSB (single-stranded DNA binding protein) supplied by Antibodies.com is a thermostable protein expressed in heterologous host cells and validated for functional DNA-binding activity. Derived from the same thermophilic bacterium that gave the field Taq polymerase, this SSB retains cooperative single-strand binding at elevated reaction temperatures, where mesophilic counterparts would denature. The native protein assembles as a homotetramer of roughly 17.5 kDa subunits that wraps single-stranded DNA, blocking intramolecular base-pairing and stabilizing primer-template regions during synthesis.

Each vial contains 100 µg of protein in liquid formulation, quality-verified by SDS-PAGE for purity and by functional strand-binding assays for activity. Researchers commonly incorporate it into workflows such as PCR amplification of GC-rich templates, primer extension studies, strand-displacement DNA synthesis, in vitro replication and recombination assays, and DNA sequencing protocols that benefit from stabilized single-stranded intermediates.

Store at -20 °C; aliquot upon first use to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect from light. Shipped on refrigerated cold packs. For research use only — not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
