Recombinant Thermus aquaticus RecA Protein (Functional)

Available from Antibodies.com, this recombinant protein is derived from Thermus aquaticus and expressed in Escherichia coli as a full-length functional RecA protein. The product is supplied as a liquid at 1 mg/ml with a molecular weight of 36.5 kDa and purity greater than 90% by SDS-PAGE. The absence of endonucleases and exonucleases has been confirmed.

The formulation contains 50mM Tris-HCl pH 8.0, 200mM NaCl, 1mM EDTA, and 50% Glycerol. It is shipped at 4°C; upon delivery it should be aliquoted and stored at -20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.

Validated for SDS-PAGE and functional studies, the protein is useful for studying homologous recombination. It can increase the specificity and yield of multiplex PCR (of cDNA or genomic DNA) by promoting homologous annealing of primers to target DNA, and enables visualization of DNA with electron microscopy due to nucleofilament formation.
