Recombinant Human Interleukin 6 (IL-6) supplied by Antibodies.com as a lyophilized, unconjugated protein preparation. IL-6 is a pleiotropic cytokine with a central role in inflammation, hematopoiesis, and the hepatic acute phase response. This biologically active form is used to stimulate IL-6-dependent signaling in cell culture and in vitro assays, including studies of T helper 17 differentiation, B-cell maturation, hepatocyte acute phase protein production, and osteoclastogenesis.

Each vial contains 10 µg of recombinant human IL-6, lyophilized from a buffered solution. The mature human IL-6 polypeptide has a calculated molecular weight of approximately 20.9 kDa. For reconstitution, briefly centrifuge the vial and resuspend in sterile deionized water or an appropriate aqueous buffer; avoid vortexing. Store the lyophilized powder at -20 °C or below. After reconstitution, aliquot to minimize freeze-thaw cycles and keep working aliquots at -80 °C, where the protein remains stable for several months. Protect from light and keep dry prior to reconstitution.

Bioactivity is commonly confirmed in cell proliferation assays using IL-6-dependent lines such as B9 or 7TD1, with ED50 determined against an international reference standard. Researchers apply this reagent in flow cytometry stimulation cocktails, ELISA standard curves, western blot analyses of STAT3 phosphorylation, and cell culture supplementation to model inflammatory microenvironments. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
