Human Interleukin-5 (IL-5) is a homodimeric cytokine that drives eosinophil proliferation, differentiation, activation, and survival through engagement of the IL-5 receptor (IL-5Rα/CD125 paired with the common β-chain). This lyophilized preparation from Antibodies.com is supplied at 10 µg per vial and is validated for biological activity, supporting research into allergic inflammation, asthma models, eosinophilic esophagitis, helminth immunity, and eosinophil-rich tumor microenvironments.

Standard applications include in vitro eosinophil differentiation from cord blood or bone marrow progenitors, TF-1 cell proliferation assays, B-cell IgA class-switching studies, and receptor binding experiments. Reconstitute in sterile deionized water to a working concentration of 0.1-1 mg/mL, aliquot to minimize freeze-thaw cycles, and store at -20 °C for short term or -80 °C for longer term; the lyophilized powder remains stable for extended periods when kept dry and protected from light.

Bioactivity is usually expressed as an ED50 against a factor-dependent cell line, with functional human IL-5 producing half-maximal responses in the low ng/mL range under standard proliferation conditions. SDS-PAGE confirms a high degree of purity, and low endotoxin content supports sensitive cell culture work.
