Recombinant Human IFN gamma supplied by Antibodies.com is a 1 mg liquid preparation of the unconjugated, biologically active cytokine. Interferon gamma (IFN-γ) is a homodimeric glycoprotein of approximately 34 kDa (two ~17 kDa subunits) encoded by the IFNG gene on chromosome 12q14. It is the signature cytokine of Th1 CD4+ cells, CD8+ cytotoxic T cells, and natural killer cells, and it drives macrophage activation, MHC class II upregulation, and STAT1-dependent signalling downstream of the IFNGR1/IFNGR2 receptor complex.

This reagent is intended as a reference standard in immunoassays, as a stimulus in cell culture work investigating T helper cell differentiation and inflammatory responses, and as a control protein in Western blot and flow cytometry experiments. The preparation is expressed in a eukaryotic host system, purified to high homogeneity, and verified by SDS-PAGE together with a cell-based bioassay for antiviral activity. Each vial is aliquoted to limit freeze-thaw cycles and should be stored at -20 °C to preserve biological activity; working aliquots are kept at this temperature and used promptly after thawing.

Researchers typically titrate the cytokine in the low ng/mL range to induce indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase expression, drive Th1 polarisation, or antagonise viral replication in A549 and HeLa reporter lines. The protein is suitable as an immunogen for antibody generation and as a calibrator for cytokine quantification. For research use only.
