The Human Ferritin (H chain) (Active) protein supplied by Antibodies.com is a recombinant preparation of the ferritin heavy polypeptide (FTH1), the subunit responsible for ferroxidase activity that oxidizes Fe2+ to Fe3+ during intracellular iron sequestration. Each ~21 kDa monomer self-assembles into the characteristic 24-subunit nanocage, providing a biologically functional reference reagent for iron homeostasis, oxidative stress, and hepatic iron overload research.
Provided as a 1 mg unconjugated liquid in a single vial, the material supports ELISA calibration curves, western blot loading controls, immunohistochemistry reference work, and in vitro cell-based assays. The active conformation retains native enzymatic ferroxidase function, distinguishing it from apoferritin or heat-denatured preparations.
Store at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles; thaw on ice and keep refrigerated during short-term handling. Research use only.
